Want Youthful Skin? Consider a Chemical Peel

Tired of astringents, whitening lotions and exfoliants that promise whiter, younger looking skin but do not deliver? Lost your patience waiting for weeks or months before you notice any improvement with your skin? A facial chemical peel may just be the solution you want But what is a chemical peel? What factors are involved in the treatment?

Chemical peel treatment involves the use of acid solutions to dissolve layers of the skin and remove dead skin cells. This action triggers the body’s healing response and regenerates the lost skin layers. This regeneration and replacement process produces skin that is healthier, whiter and younger looking.

There are three classifications of facial chemical peels. This includes:

Light Chemical Peels

The mildest type of chemical peels; Alphahydroxy acids like glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid and fruit acids fall under this classification. These are a very popular choice because of their low cost, cause little to no pain, and has less recovery time compared to stronger peels.

Light chemical affect only the topmost layers of the skin and are effective for the reduction of wrinkles, fine lines and dark spots. A drawback is that an individual should undergo frequent regular treatments, usually weekly or monthly, to maintain the effects.

Medium Chemical Peels

Tricholoroacetic acids fall under this classification. These peels affect deeper layers of the skin compared to light peels. These are used for skin with moderate sun damage, wrinkles, or uneven skin tone. Depending on the concentration of the solution, an anesthetic may be used prior to application. To achieve desired results, a once a month or twice a month treatment is necessary.

Deep Chemical Peels

The strongest chemical peel solution, this involves the use of phenol acid, the effect of which goes deeper into the skin compared to all other chemical peels. These peels are used to treat those with sever skin problems like coarse wrinkles, and even pre-cancerous growths. Because of their strength, deep chemical peels are applied after the patient has received anesthesia. These peels are only used once, but produce dramatic and permanent results for your skin.

A facial chemical peel is one of the best ways to achieve the beautiful, flawless and blemish-free skin that you want. Always consult your doctor when choosing which type of chemical peels is best for you.
